LNB is at the halfway of the Second Stage and there are still another 5 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Metros (11-8) in San Francisco on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by third ranked Indios (10-8) 93-73. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. It was a great shooting night for Indios especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American swingman Adrio Bailey (197-1997, college: Arkansas) stepped up and scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard Ramon Galloway (190-1991, college: La Salle) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Jhery Matos (196-1996, college: Charlotte) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indios moved-up to second place, which they share with Leones. Metros at the other side still keep top position with eight games lost. Indios is looking forward to face league's second-placed Leones in Santo Domingo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Metros will play at home against Caneros and are hoping to win this game.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Leones (10-8) against fourth ranked Titanes (10-9) on Friday night. Visiting Leones were crushed by Titanes in San Cristobal 110-81. Luis Montero (203-1993, college: South Plains) nailed 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Jassel Perez accounted for 22 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. American swingman Trahson Burrell (201-1992, college: Memphis) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for Leones in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Titanes have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 10-9 record. Leones at the other side keep the second position with eight games lost. They share it with Indios. Titanes will play against Marineros (#5) in Puerto Plata in the next round. Leones will play on the road against Indios in San Francisco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Caneros managed to get a eighth victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses on Friday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked Marineros in La Romana 103-96. The best player for the winners was Antonio Gordon who scored 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Sydney Curry produced a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the guests. Marineros' coach Julio Cesar Javier rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Caneros maintains sixth place with 8-10 record. Loser Marineros keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Caneros will meet league's leader Metros in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
